A pair of national polls released Wednesday show former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt

and President Obama running even in hypothetical head-to-head general election matchups.

In a new poll from Rasmussen Reports,

holds a marginal edge over the president, 43 percent to 42 percent, well within the poll's margin of error. Seven percent say they are undecided, while 8 percent support another candidate. A separate Rasmussen poll released Tuesday found the president trailing a generic Republican candidate by six points.
