Bigotry = stubbornly clinging to a belief, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Racism, Sexism, Anti-Semitism, Homophobia, etc = stubbornly clinging to ideas about those things, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Of course, it is often the bigot, who uses the term the most!
