Now one data point does not make a trend (as much as these idiots try to believe) but nevertheless, these regions are experiencing colder than average winters this year. That is a fact. I spend Christmas in SC every year and this year was the coldest by far.
Let's simplify it a bit.........

Sometimes, it's colder in the winter, than is usually is. Sometimes, it's hotter in the summer than it usually is.

Now, since you are saying that this year is the 'coldest by far'....let's check that.

What is the temp there, and let's google historic data on past temps.....I'll bet there's not some huge difference over the last 100 years.
