I thought scientologists believed in evolution, and that our bad feelings came from the angry spirits of dead aliens, which (for some reason) like to latch onto us, and make us miserable.

I deduced it after reading this:

"Our evolution has nothing to do with apes. Rather, our DNA, universal and galactic cycles, light, and certain frequency vibrations that affect it."

Sounds ver L Ron, no?
