IMO, it really depends on the integrity of the military..

Democracy would be good for the Muslims there, but may have negative implications for US foreign policy and they neighbors.

If the military is corrupt, they may rig the elections or install a dictator. Neither of which will be good for Egyptian Muslims, but it'll make us and the jooz breathe a little easier.

Personally, I'm fine with a democracy there.. It will present challenges we'll have to deal with in the coming years, but the only alternative is some type of colonialism.. Which I don't know that we can afford, or even successfully pull off even if we could afford it.
