I think that's a problem too, John Anthony.. Many conservatives do not. They favor this sort of thing and think it's just splendid economics.

I don't understand that and, frankly.. I suspect they think these people (20% of the country.. I mean, as many people as there are liberal democrats are unemployed or under employed now) will just vanish, or kill themselves on principle.

They won't.. and I think it's foolish to act as though they don't exist.

Bush's answer was for the government to "re-train" them all... With Pell Grants and what have you. He bragged about it during the 04 debate and Kerry stung him (for one of the few times in the debate) by pointing out that grant application were up because those people no longer had jobs. And it's way worse now than it is then.. It's when the phrase "jobless recovery" started getting tossed around a lot. Now we have tent cities.

But this is dangerous on a different level. Obama is making this announcement to the Chamber of Commerce, who's he going to meet with. If you read the piece, he is flatly saying that he wants to toss money at businesses, and he wants them to create green jobs and products.

He's not coming off this attack on business or the attack on energy.. He's going full steam ahead, and he expects the Chamber of Commerce to help him.

Here's the worst part: THEY WILL!!! They absolutely will!

If he's there to throw money at them, they'll take every nickle he shells out.. For anything. No matter how stupid or pointless it is, they'll do it.

So now we're really fucked.. We have this "transformational" President with a big check book, and we have a POWERFUL business lobby salivating over it.
