Today’s Rally to Restore Sanity Crowd Estimates are unofficial. However early reports are suggesting that close to 150,000 people were in attendance for today’s rally. The rally which was held by Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central was also streamed live and watched live on TV by hundreds of thousands of additional people.

The event included guest appearances from the likes of Sheryl Crow, The Roots, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Sam Waterston, and others. It achieved the goal it initially set out with, which was for entertainment purposes only. The event did raise a large sum of money for various charities, although the official numbers have not yet been released.

Will we ever see a similar rally held by Comedy Central after the brilliant success this one had? It’s very possible.

A firm hired by CBS News to estimate the crowd put attendees at between 78,000 and 96,000. The firm, AirPhotosLive.com, had three estimators go over high-resolution aerial photos of the event, and then combined the three estimates.

That only shows that there are way more people on the dole who can afford to go to rallies because they have no jobs to preclude it.
