No, the last you heard, I was a physics graduate student. I am now the holder of a PhD.

Well, I do research of a kind, but I am not an academic. I am, in fact, a wage slave in private industry.

I'll give you respect for the fact that you're in the sciences at least.

No, I am no longer a scientist (at least according to a narrow definition). I'm closer to an applied mathematician currently.

As far as the business, most startups fail.
