True except perhaps the word "because." Do your really have any evidence of how many people actually stopped dead in their tracks and changed their vote solely as a result of that unfounded rumor? Or was it just bullshit circulated amongst fringe nutcases who had already made up their minds anyway, just like long forms, death panels, etc.? You have no way of knowing, do you?
