I recall years ago when the "health community" said eggs were bad for you- too much cholesterol- and I thought to myself, "You mean this stuff we've been eating for thousands of years is BAD for us? Why don't I believe you?" And then a few years later it was discovered that most of that cholesterol was of a *good* kind and eggs were suddenly ok again. So whenever something like that pops up in the news I ignore it completely.
