If all those Americans can claim to be Irish, why can't they be?
Because they're not Irish, they're British.

You can have your own drunks and sozzled reprobates, you don't need to move them over the border by default.

Based on molly's sense of humour, he is clearly German. Based on my pseudonym you eejit, I am rather more likely to be Irish. Based on your knowledge of geography and nationality, you are clearly American... ...note the reference to Irish coffees all round, you great galoot.

The name might be, but the Brits shoved these people down our throat about 300 years ago. I can't recall having any Brit shoved down my throat (at least not unwillingly). I'll check the family records to see if we stored any settlers that way- it does seem unlikely.

By the way, the first of the plantations was in Elizabeth I's time, but the Brits (or Anglo-Normans,if you're going to be picky) have been there since at least Henry II's reign. Mostly thanks to Irish infighting and an English Pope.

BTW, that is an insult to Germans, not to molly. Oh dear Dauphin. Does your pseudonym imply a French connection ? If so, tant pis....
