is it true that if you shave your legs etc, it will grow back faster and thicker?

I have hair on my chest, but I'm thinking I might want more hair. So I'm actually thinking about shaving it.

. But only for the purpose of having more hair. I'm not going metrosexual, so no need to have an intervention. I still think chicks dig the Magnum P.I. look, despite all these girly boys in movies now days.
