"Ricardus" sounds much older than the Black Rock.

"Ricardus" is just Latin for "Richard". We already know that all the Others are taught to speak Latin, which may mean that Jacob has a preference for the language. It seems pretty silly to assume Richard is Roman (when there's never been a Roman connection on the show before) when it's more likely that Jacob just told Ilana to ask for Ricardus.
