But today I got some Sai Incense cones for myself and my counselor (who is also a Buddhist) for meditation and such... I was just wondering, how exactly are you supposed to use them? The first one I used was called Patchouli, and I thought that maybe it was just that certain scent that was why it only smelled musky and smoky. But I just tried a rose one and it did exactly the same thing. They smell good in the boxes, don't get me wrong. But once I light them I smell nothing but smoke for the rest of the day... can someone help please?
Hi Rose

Its not necessary to burn incense, especially the very smoky cones. Its possible that a room full of incense smoke could be just as bad for one's health as a room full of cigarette smoke, especially for people who have asthma.

There's certainly no need to use it for meditation -- personally I prefer to meditate outside or next to an open window when possible anyway.

with kind wishes
