where can i find Simple no thrills Buddhism [...]?
In my very personal opinion, if one is in the need of a tradition to be followed, I recommend to choose the most nearer to what the historical Buddha taught. The one I know, by reading their teachings, is the Thai Forest Tradition. I have found in their teachings good advice to follow the path of Buddha.

Now, if one wants to follow the teachings of Buddha, the best way is to follow the teachings of Buddha, recorded in the Pali Canon, giving a careful reading of his discourses, through a contemplative apprehending, letting them do their proper work within, and in a honest disposition to practice what is instructed by him. This is following the teachings of Buddha. Simple.

But this kind of resolution is very personal and has to be in touch with your heart. In my experience, nothing has resonated so deeply and clearly than the discourses of Buddha.
