It does happen, although I would actually say it's quite rare in the UK considering how tight-knit and generally conservative the main Muslim communities here are. Obviously if the girl has not been raised very religious then it's not an issue...

In my experience the biggest barrier is prejudice against non-muslims, religious issues come second, but are still very much present..
