What geographical advantages? Living in a cold climate with less biodiversity and slow plant growth rates is hardly an advantage.

Europe has navigable rivers and natural ports unlike Sub-Sahara Africa. Rivers in SSA get all wild and crazy eventually, which totally fucks up any long distance trade.
