My family has not renounced where we come from and I'd say my parents are model immigrants, fully integrated despite still being Dominicans. They did such a good job that there was no need to integrate their children, we were simply born into Americanisms. I certainly haven't renounced my heritage to maintain something I've been assimilated into since birth.

Immigrants should practice whatever identity they hold onto at home though, including language.
