It makes sense if they are half-siblings or not siblings. Internal stigma against IR relationships is strong.

You've seen him, right? He does look a little different...She had a meltdown. At the time, my father also had his hair grown out and it was long and similar to mine. He was a little "too country" for her taste. You see, all of my family is originally from "the country." And you know how I mean that with the quotes. But she had such insecurities about her humble origins that she sought to distance herself from anything that reminded her of it. And my father looked like people from back home to her so she was quite heated about it. The "baggage" I mentioned.
she wanted your mom to distance herself from those rural roots as my family wanted me to do the same in distancing myself from my Pacific coastal heritage.
