BBC-"Results from these studies have consistently shown that overweight people use more energy to keep their bodies working. This is because they have larger bodies with bigger muscles and internal organs"
Aggregate vs average metabolism. Kinda how in aggregate you may metabolize more energy than a humming bird but compared in terms of metabolism per unit mass it ranks higher.
I think his hypothalamus ? measures average blood sugar sees it's low and triggers hunger.
There was this experiment about this a guy swallowed an inflatable balloon. when blood sugar ran low he was hungry they inflated the balloon and stomach lining pressure made him feel full and hunger stopped when they deflated it he was hungry again, i think they also did it on dogs. It's usually in bio lessons about hypothalamus and some other organs. So long his blood sugar low he will eat only a full belly will stop him and only until it empties
