I agree. But he doesn't stand a chance in hell of being the GOP nominee, which is a shame. He's probably the only GOP candidate who has a chance of appealing to independents and moderate democrats.
Even if he could win the nomination, beating Obama is going to be real hard for anybody, unless the economy really dips again. Obama has the advantage of a lot "free" votes that are going to him no matter what, and his fundraising and campaign organization is excellent.

If Huntsman gets some national recognition this year, he might have a good shot in 2016; I'm guessing that's his game plan.
