THE IKHWANITES AND THE WAHHABITES QUESTIONED
by Shaykh Dr. Abdalqadir as-Sufi - 12/12/2011

The billions of Muslims in the world, that world community whose millions can be seen on world television circling the Ka’aba each year on Hajj, all share a common and immediate concern.

The world’s kafir media openly inform us that the self-styled Ikhwan al-Muslimeen are the radical political force of the Muslims, and that the Wahhabites are the extreme and by implication purist version of the Deen.

Muslims are well aware that the Ikhwan are by their own definition separatists, since, if we are not members, we are excluded or annexed by them.

Allah the Exalted says: (Al-Hujurat: 10)

The muminun are brothers, so make peace between your brothers and have taqwa of Allah so that hopefully you will gain mercy.

The muminun, as defined, by Allah the Exalted, is an all-inclusive term, unifying people by the Deen itself, Islam. It is not a unification by brotherhood per se. Herein is the defining negation of the term ‘Ikhwan al-Muslimeen’. Their notorious “Ya Akhi!” is a simple adoption of the communist term “Oh comrade!” They were born in the age of world socialism.

The self-styled Salafites are the core group of the Wahhabites of Arabia, sustained by the tribe of Ibn Saud, yet evolving as an internal revolt against the Saudis who, nevertheless, sustained them and financed them until the foolish attempt to seize the Haram of Makkah at the time of Fahd ibn Saud. After this they became both an underground and a terrorist organisation with a hidden leadership and absolutely no foundational frame of Islamic knowledge.

The common factors shared by these two deviationist groups are:

They do not govern and have no known or accepted leader.

They do not appoint Zakat Collectors or take Zakat on its primal terms which, of course, do not permit of paper-money or computerised numbers money being defined as intrinsic wealth.

They have a historical record of living under regimes, and being funded by them, while denouncing these regimes as kafir.

As a result of their silence on issues of the Deen itself, alongside their adoption (hidden) of Islamic leadership, significant messages have come to me from young educated Muslims across the world asking about their possible legitimacy – so, I have asked the leading Faqih of the School of the Ahl al-Madinah – surely the only Salafi source – to set a questionnaire to these two groups.

Here is the text of this questionnaire by Shaykh ‘Ali al-'Iraqi al-Hussaini.

Is it a reprehensible bid’a to celebrate the Mawlid of the Messenger – may Allah bless him and grant him peace?

Do you follow a madhhab?

Are you (or is al-Qardawi) a mujtahid mutlaq (i.e. a person who does not follow any madhhab because he can derive directly the fiqh from the Quran and the Sunna and has his own methodology of ijtihad)?

Is it allowed to do taqlid of other than the madhhabs of the four Imams?

On which madhhab will the judiciary system of the country whose leadership you want to take be based?

If there is consensus among the Salaf on two possible legal answers, can you create a third one in the modern day?

Will you restore a collected Zakat with legally appointed Collectors?

Do you think Fractional Reserve Banking is halal?

Are banks and other large financial institutions, like pension funds, insurance companies, etc., necessary for the economic growth of the Muslims?

Are the deals of limited liability companies in stock markets acceptable in Islam?

Do you abide by all the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights?

Is democracy the best form of government for Muslims in today’s age?

Is taxation of all citizenry acceptable in Islam?

Are the laws of dhimma applicable today?

Will the country whose leadership you want to take have an Emirate with authority only limited by the injunctions of the Sharia or he will be vetoed by the decisions of a Parliament?

Do you agree that jihad is fard kifaya once every year?

Do you consider a person who blows himself/herself up in a so-called martyrdom operation to be a shahid?

Is Tasawwuf the science of Ihsan and therefore part of the Deen?

Do you deem it necessary to destroy the graves of the Awliya and other respected Muslims of the past?

Do you consider doing dhikr loudly a reprehensible bid’a in the Deen?
