Default Important question
36.40 It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law).

I have been trying to concentrate on the last 10 days of Ramadan but i keep getting silly whispers about this ayat after having read the tafsir of it. I really need help on the issue and someone needs to give me a full commentary on it as it's really affecting my worship. My issue is only with the first part of the ayah, it is not permitted for the sun to overtake the moon. What does this mean? Most tafsirs say it means it is not allowable for the sun to come out when the moon is out, but then i get the image of norway or the poles where the sun and moon are out at the same time. What does this ayah mean? I wish i knew arabic, i honestly hate reading english translations. Please can someone explain this to me? Preferrably a student of knowledge.
