I am not sure if it has already started to materialize or not. However people are only punished after they have been invited to the deen and they then reject it. As far as I know America has not been invited to the deen. Years ago I watched a program on TV which showed that the deserts of Arabia used to be covered by forests and rivers and on a BBC religion forum I asked how the Prophet Muhammad

would have known this in his time...the trolls just said that this was also known by the Greeks. Interesting hadiths though.
