Imām Mālik [رحمه الله] said:
“Knowledge does not consist in narrating much. Knowledge is but a light which Allāh places in the heart.”
[Ṣifat as-Ṣafwah & Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr (3:555)]
Abū Dardāʾ [رضي الله عنه] said:
"Indeed my greatest fear concerning standing on the Day of Judgment is that it will be said to me: You have learned, hence what have you done with your knowledge?!"
[Jāmiʿ Bayān al-ʿilm wa Fadlihī #647]
Imām al-Awzāʿī [رحمه الله] said:
"I have been informed that it used to be said: 'Woe to those who acquire religious knowledge for other than the sake of worship, and to those who permit the unlawful due to doubtful arguments.'"
[Iqtida' of al-Khatib al-Baghdadi]
Imam ash-Shafi'i said:
“I complained to my teacher, Waki` [رحمه الله] about my bad memory, and he taught me that I should keep away from sin.
He said that knowledge of Allah is light, and the light of Allah is not given to the sinner.”
May Allah make us from amongst those that act upon our knowledge in sincerity, amin.
