There is a hadith where the Rasul had a race running with Aisha (RA) the mother of the believers. I assume it must have been somewhere isolated. Spectator sports is a useless activity and people are so cought up in it, spending days and years of their lives on such.

as far as spectating goes we have the spear throwing in the masjid.
