A couple of weeks ago on July 4th I wished everyone in my family's email group 'Happy July 4th' and said simply that today is the 825th anniversary of the Battle of Hattin. This was the day that Saluhuddin Ayubi comprehensively defeated the crusader armies allowing Jerusalem to be recaptured shortly thereafter... (many people now know this date as in fact the date of american independence, which from a Muslim perspective, is considerably less relevant..)..

following a large positive reaction from my family, it got us thinking about the other important dates in islamic history.. and about making a list..
so with your permission, I have started to make a list. I would like to have 354/365 dates. Whatever the day is, be it today (July 17th), or December 25th, or any day one can think of, I would like people to know what happened on that day..of significance.. to Muslims

So here is the proposal..
If you are reading this thread.. and know of any item of interest which happened Islamically, or concerns Muslims, please write it down here. These are events which you think deserve greater prominence. If you know the Islamic date of it, that is fantastic! But if you do not, that is okay, don't worry, just let me know what happened which you found signficant and I will do the research Inshallah. Likewise, if you know the gregorian date, thats great, but if you do not, just jot down what you think happened of significance anyway... What would be the most helpful thing possible would be if you knew the event, the date it happened, could tell us a little bit about it and tell us the reference you used.

What the sunniforum community gets in return - Inshallah I will compile these dates -do some further research as necessary and create a free-for-personal-use searchable list at the end of the thread and an ebook here on the forums, for everyone to be able to read.

The day the volcano erupted near Medina fulfilling prophecy

We need both positive and negative moments. The negative moments are not to depress ourselves, but to remind ourselves of how we got here. The positive moments of course naturally are there to hearten us and to inspire us.

Inshallah, this project will be completed with everyone's help. Please write down below if there is anything I have written which you would like clarifcation on.. or if your feeling inspired start giving dates/events!
