i have come across 2 theories on the internet. i have not looked into them much but here they are.

theory 1

if israel attacks iran which might very well happen (see this http://www.therightperspective.org/2...l-simon-perez/),
then israel will be weakened and open to attacks from the surrounding arab countries - except now these surrounding arab countries have their own problems and will not be able to take advantage of this situation.

theory 2

it seems that russia has a hold on the gas reserves around syria. america wants to have control over these reserves and want access to build a pipeline through syria in order to export it out of the region for themselves.

as for saudi helping syria. please dont be so naive. the saudi regime are puppets for the americans.
