Salaaam,
I know there are differences of opinions between the madhabs which we accept.
Then there are difference between the madhabs and those who do not follow a madhab and even this I accept.
What has confused me thou is what I came across this weekend.

I will share and if anyone can shed any light or any daleel as to where it has come from I would be grateful.
A family member of mine informed me about this practise at his local masajid (salafi type If I am allowed to say that).

During summer/Ramadhan Maghrib and Isha are combined so you open your fast and you read Maghrib then you stand up again and you read Isha, you then go home and come back after an hour or so and then read Taraveeh salah.
This I can accept it's not soemthing I would do but each to their own.
What I couldn't get my head round was the next part.

Let's say you cannot make Jamaat for Maghrib/Isha and you read Maghrib at home you have also lost reading Isha in Jamaat so what you do is go to the Masajid and when the imam stands to read Taraveeh you stand behind him after the 2 rakaats of Taraveeh the imam ends his salah but at this point you stand up and continue with 2 more rakaats so the Imam has read 2 of Traveeh and you have read 4 fardh of Isha (2 of which have been in jamaat).
The reasoning for this is it is sunnah to read in Jamaat and more rewarding which of course we know.
But something like this??? I haven't heard of anything like this.
I got into a discussion with my family member about this ruling and he said it is accepted we spoke about the Imams and he said with his own words that anyone not following an imam is in the wrong and he was convinced it was a ruling of one of the great imaams.

I find it hard to believe it would be but obviously I am a layman so said I will find out .

I wish to correct him if he is wrong and point him in the right direction.

Can someone shed any light on this/this practise? is this something anyone has heard of or come across?

If anything could it be a ruling in the Hanbali madhab?
