Arrogance is the distruction of man... we are reminded time and time again in the Quran about what happens to those that are arrogant. Allah uses the Pharoah of the time of Musa as an example..
“Pharaoh called to his people, saying, “My people, does the kingdom of Egypt not belong to me? Do not all these rivers flow under my control? Do you not then see? Am I not better than this man who is contemptible and can scarcely make anything clear? Why have gold bracelets not been put upon his arms and why is there not a train of angels accompanying him?'' [43:51-53]

It will be said to the disbelievers: "You have met this fate because you rejoiced on the earth in things other than the Truth, and then exulted in it. Enter now the gates of Hell to live therein
forever. What an evil abode for the arrogant!" [40:75-76]

May Allah keep us away from being arrogant and showing off and keep us on the path of righteousness ameen
