The strength of the Sahabah were the UNITY despite disagreements.

Remember what Muawiya(ra) said to the Roman emperor who tried to exploit the fight between him and Ali ibn Abi Talib(ra) by offering Muawiya (ra) support :
"Oh Christian, If ever Hadhrat Ali (ra)'s army has to march against you, then the first soldier to join and pluck out your eyes will be Muawiya!"
(Al Bidaya)
