If you have any references, I'd be pleased to see them. (I believe you but was discussing this on another forum so a reference would be useful for me and people will start using the revised fatwa)

I can offer no links but I heard it also (read the eng. on-screen transcript) on a youtube video. From my poor memory he said (my words) "if you are not sure the animal was slaughtered by ahl-kitaab then best to abstain from it."
