I hate to be stupid, but what is "juz"?
That's not being stupid at all!
A "juz'" is 1/30th of the Qur'an. In the subcontinent context, people call it a "para". The first juz' is called "alif laam meem", the second juz' is called "sayaqool", the third juz' is called "tilk ar-rusl", etc. If you look in your Arabic mushaf, you'll see the the first line of each juz' is emphasized or bolded or highlighted or marked on the side.
