general question......(not regarding this year or any other particular year)....
just say that the moon was born on the 29th night and sighting was possible, but due to whatever factors no one saw it and completed 30 days of ramadhan and then did eid. that would mean due to the moon not being sighted people fasted on what would have been the 1st of shawwal according to the moon.........do we need to make taubah for this or is this fine and within the criteria and conditions laid down for sighting the moon?

this doesnt seem right to me as i thought that as long as adequate measures are taken and the moon is not sighted or someones testimony is not accepted due to whatever valid reasons, then it is not a problem to fast an extra day even if later through whatever means it transpires that the moon had indeed born on the 29th night.
