Before someone is declared a unbeliever and put to death the ulama use their intellectual power to convince the person of the error of their ways.

noone is declaring imran hussein a disbeliever or saying he should be put to death, just that if someone was saying things which are kufr, YES we should try to convince them etc but we certainly shouldnt start taking knowledge from them and supporting their cause
