By the taufeeq of Allah I attended too. The general heedlessness prior to janaza and burial was alarming. Then there comes the heedlessness after burial when we go home. Back to the same old, same old.

What I would suggest is that those of you that do not have a beard should keep one, for you should not meet your creator in a state where you have abandoned the external Sunnah, let alone the internal.

I think people do not want to think about their own death because it scares them and seperates them from their beloved. Thinking about death is enlightening but because we love our dunya we do not want to contemplate it.
