Default Imaam Waaqidi, Futuh ash-Sham, Clarification...

My brother some time ago brought home the book "Conquests of Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine". It says at the back it is an English translation of the Urdu book "Sahaab-e-Kiraam ke Jangi Ma'rike" which has been adapted from "Futoohush Shaam" by Imaam Waaqidi. It has been translated and published by Jamia Masihiyyah Ashrafiyyah, De Deur, South Africa.

I have read what Mufti Husain Sb. has said about the book by Imaam Waaqidi but I am confused. Can anyone perhaps shed light on the Urdu book mentioned above.

Also, Jamia Masihiyyah is well known to be strict on Sunnah and Shariah. It boggles my mind that they would go to great lengths to translate and publish a 'questionable' book.

Finally, if Futoohush Shaam has been wrongly attributed to Imaam Waaqidi then who is its author? In the English book above in the bio of Imaam Waaqidi statements of praise by Allamah Thahabi are mentioned. Amongst his teachers where Imaam Abu Hanifa and Imaam Maalik, and he authored about 29 books.

If anyone can shed more light on all the above it would be greatly appreciated.
