Non-core provinces become core ones once you've had them for 25 years. and cores on other countries' territories are lost after 50 years. Minority cultures in your empire can become one of your state cultures if they make up over a certain % of your tax base.

The spread of Protestantism is no longer scripted with "Province X has become Protestant/Reformed" events, but spreads by itself instead (I've seen a Protestant Spain and Protestant Italian minors!).

One interesting thing I like is that if you have a royal marriage with a country you have a small chance of inheriting that country (I've had the Ottomans inherit Crimea in a recent Muscovy/Russia game! ).

There are several different governments and "national ideas" to pick from, each with unique bonuses.

I'll say if pretty good so far.
