Prep:

1.Cut science to nil. Max military funding, Max unit size.

2. Max taxes (100 percent). You don't have any workers to worry about devolving, and you don't mind losing your officers either.

This should give you a bit of a profit, your first move is to increase your manpower, so you need to import cloth for shirts.

When you manage to import exactly 10 shirts, convert your largest pop to soldiers, and convert the soldiers to max out your two calvary divisions. Merge them, you should have about 6k of 10k possible. This is going to be your hammer.

Do not reinforce anybody else. Leave the artillery in your capital. Send the other two smaller divisions north to take colorado claims from Mexico. You will need to sell these.

Once you have 10 shirts, stop importing. Send Sam Houston south into Mexico. Your goal is to walk in and capture the Mexican capital and sue for a white peace. If you get there before the Mexicans take all of Texas, you will get a white peace and not lose any of your country, although you will lose prestige.

During the war, and after you've recruited troops and all, you should pass the bill for all of the social reforms. It will cost a fair bit, but you'll make that back when you sell your colonies to the US for mega bucks.

Give that a try, you should be able to beat Mexico with just that. Hmm, maybe I need the patch, but this isn't working for me. I can't max my taxes, there is a cap on them. I bought the shirts and converted a pop unit to soldiers but it didn't increase my manpower.
