I think I'm in agreement with you wrt to sentencing issues. Some people need to be locked up for a long time.

You may be right on the prison construction as well. I lived in Kichener when the P4W was proposed and built there and most of the area was in favour. The nearby residents were not impressed however. The difficulty I see is the enhanced "tough on crime" image that occurs every time a new prison opens. It plays well in some areas but many places will just see this as the Tories trying to "stuff more people away".

A serious road block to the Tories current proposed CCC changes is the lack of funding I mentioned earlier. There is significant provincial opposition to adding more "2 years less a day" prisoners to the system as the provinces must shoulder this cost. They want $$ to come with the changes to the CCC.
