I have to say that although The Strangers wasn't a spectacular film, it at least was old school in the approach of building up some genuine tension and suspense, and didn't rely on cheap thrills. But i have to say that i love The Descent, All of George Ramaro's zombie films, The Devil's Rejects, and a few of the child's play films.
