one thing I've observed over some 32+ years observing FNN now CNBC do with their market updater (now a crawler before which used to be 3 column screen snaphot updater back in the late 70s) is that the crawler flips between spot or nearby contract month, depending upon what the floor director/producer thinks needs displaying. I've maintained in these intervening 32+ years, that this flip-flopping shows HIS particular market bias. It is maddening.

I would suggest that what CNBC showed today and you observed is December Gold Futures COMEX. Kitco, while time delayed is consistently the SPOT or CASH market, not the futures tracker.
