I've been thinking about this topic for sometime trying to remember a song that I find really meaningful. Yesterday, I found at least one: 'If I Were A Carpenter' by Johnny Cash with June Carter. I'm not a big country fan (hell, the only 'country' album I own is a Johnny Cash one) but I love this song. It's simple yet quite emotional. It's just a perfect love song imo. Johnny Cash is THE fucking man. Edit: I'm going to have to agree with Jenova about gangsta rap. At least about the rap that's taking up about 90% of MTV play time. You know the stuff I'm talking about? Gangsta's getting out of cars in slow-motion with big-assed bimbos; gangsta's shaking their hands; calling each other the n-word (what's up with that, anyway?), etc. I understand that many of these people have come out of the streets and I respect the fact that they've made something out of themselves but I still think the music is crap. It's not even about the lyrics. Just about some catchy beat and catchy chorus and about appealing to the 'playas' out there. That's not cool. Well said. Some sense does still exist in Music, people like us are rare sadly. I'm not a rap hater though. There are several rap songs I like but the reason I like them is because the lyrics are really clever. Still, I have yet to hear a rap song that I find to be really meaningful.
