while the exact way these sounds are transduced into the air is unclear (if the phenomenon is real), the sounds themselves are far from exotic these days with an abundance of cheap and sophisticated audio software and even sampling cds with "hollywood" sound fx.

the easiest explanation would be that it is some "viral" web phenomenon. it would'nt be hard to do, much easier than with cgi ufo videos. just pick some random outdoor footage (low quality would probably even add credibility) and mix some sounds from an "alien fx" cd underneath the original sound.

that can be done by any 12 year old geek with freeware on dad's computer.
