The powers who "wanna be" (and soon won't) know that once the sleeping masses are awakened by the knowledge of the extraterrestrials' existence their economic grip on us would disappear like a fart in a tornado. Once the people realised that our leaders (for want of a better expression) have had an ongoing knowledge of ETs and their technologies they'd ask why are we using primitive sources for power such as coal and oil when we've had FREE energy sources available to us for a century and that would be the end of their power over us.
