to make audible frequencies really interesting, take a look at "holy scotland" where, in the rosslyn chapel, built in the 15th century, the pillars contain "music cubes" consisting of a single tonal frequency each. one good start might be the rosslyn motet: http://www.mythomorph.com/mm/content...music_code.php , though there are literally stacks of information about more than the tonal icons.
