yes your soul thinks in different terms when it is in a body in 3rd density because of the veil of forgetfulness, of course.
once the veil is removed there is no need to ponder upon these questions for then an individual soul realizes that it is but a part of a complex web of the internal creator. all of us are just a part of the greater soul. take for example your body with all of its nerve endings. you will then be one of those nerve endings. the only difficult task is to imagine that this nervous grid or system is endless and forever spreading. thus as the electricity flows through our nerve system from the origin to the nerve ending so do we travel from the origin and back into the origin. we are able to acknowledge how close we are to the origin or how far because we are aware of our being thus we are aware of our surroundings and our relativity.
the souls main purpose is to grow and evolve. we grow by polarizing ourselves to either negative or positive. some achieve this fast while other remain neutral and un-polarized until they have learned all that they could and have taken all that there is to take from the vibration level that they are at. once they realize that the only way is to grow they can then accept more light thus raising their vibration.
we will not be lingering for a few billion of years because our 3d cycle is much shorter than this. i do not think there is anybody who needs this much time to polarize because the distortions (free will, learning/teaching process, etc.) that we have in place on this level of vibration are the most effective, as experiences shows, at achieving higher levels in relatively short amount of time (75,000 years).
