they are only considered indigo due to the color of the aura. its not separating them or asking to treat them more special then others. its rather to give credence to what is going on, and helping them grow and bloom - something they cant do by being ignored.
we have to understand that without someone there telling them they are okay, they go through a very hard life treated as a social outcast. they are labeled as "freaks", outcasts, mistrusted, treated is "stupid"... most of the time they end up placed under such drugs as cylert or ritalin, in an effort to calm them down and make them appear normal.

i also pulled this from another forum, but it lists many of the drugs that are given (pm me for link):

indigo is just a term, as rose describes a flower with red petals, or a wool sock describes a foot covering made of wool... lol
