The word 'sensuous' means "(of pleasure) experienced through the senses".
1. It applies to all kinds of sensual pleasures, not just sex, as implied in the article referred here. Sigmund Freud but uses the term 'sex' to denote
pleasure derived through all sensory organs. He does not confine himself to the usage of the word sex, as understood by many of us, in its narrow
and restricted sense.
2. Agreed that sex is an inevitable part of life for human beings. But, as a psychology student, I personally noticed whoever wrote or spoke
extensively about sex remained brahmacharis (who practised celebacy) throughout their lives, out of choice or compulsion or due to any other
reason and also those who were not happy in their sexual life. So, what I come to say is Hinduism as a religion shall not be depicted as a religion
given to sensual pleasure, based on certain works of certain individuals alone.
3. The excessive importance given to one's body in western countries is the reason for their talking or playing sex, in contrast to Hinduism which at
the extreme end of its philosophy urges one to think beyond one's body, transcend the mind and merge the soul with the universe.
I request our friends not to read or quote selectively to understand and interpret our religion. If we do it, we will be doing injustice to our great religion.
