Shri Malgova.mango ji, I remember reading somewhere the Narmada shloka you refer to is specific to vadama sandhyavandanam. Along with Narmada, Astika is supplicated for the same purpose as well(astika satyasandho, mam pannagebhyo abhirakshatu).
